How to get there: It is easily reached from the centre of the coastal town of Marina di Campo. Another easy place to reach it is from the suburb of La Foce.
This is Elba's longest beach: from the town to the suburb of La Foce it is almost 1,400 m long. Its fine sand is a result of disintegration of Mount Capanne's granite rocks. Once this was a small centre for fishermen huddled around the medieval tower, it has now expanded, with summer houses, guest houses, hotels and camp sites. The houses and the tourist accommodation run along the back of the beach among pine trees, though sometimes they menace the relationship between the beach and its pine grove, which is one of the nice things about the place. The beach has many services, such as facilities for bathers who want comfort. The simplest area is towards the east, near La Foce suburb, where there are also some camp sites suitable for people who love a more spontaneous approach to the sea and the natural environment. After La Foce there is a rocky coast with coves and bays running to Fonza Cape. The rocks can be reached by a footpath or more simply by canoe or pedal boat. The water is crystal clear and among the rocks you can find peace and privacy. Even the small port used by both tourists and fishermen manages to live with this seaside resort. The water is still clear even in front of the pier, coloured by the sandy sea bed.
